Remember California tells a story that everyone has. A longing A quiet, gentle sadness in your chest. Maybe you miss a place, or you miss a person. We've all felt it. This song brings me back to that place. And I hope that you may find solace in it too.

Tools & Sound
Some of these are precision tools. Some of them are pure color. Most of them are something in between.
Less a gear list and more a map of how the atmosphere gets built. These are the tools behind the glow, blur, depth, movement, and weight.
This was my first third-party EQ and it’s still one of my go-to tools. I use it a lot to compare frequency content between instruments when things start competing in a mix. Being able to see what’s happening visually makes it way easier to carve space without guessing. It’s especially useful when I’m trying to get two sounds to coexist instead of fight each other.
This is my main channel compressor and I use it on almost everything. Whether it’s multiband or single band, it gives me super clean control over dynamics. I especially love it on guitars where different frequency ranges need different treatment. The visual feedback is huge for me. Being able to see what’s being compressed makes mixing much more intuitive.
This is the only transient shaper I use. It’s insanely useful for shaping attack and sustain, especially on drums and percussive synths. The fact that it’s multiband and fully visual makes it perfect for dialing things in quickly. For visual learners, this plugin is honestly a game-changer.
I always use this before my guitars. The visual interface makes it really easy to dial in the threshold and clean things up without overdoing it. It’s simple, effective, and super helpful for tightening up noisy recordings.
This is my go-to for adding character and brightness. I mainly use it on cymbals, FX, and sometimes snares to get more sizzle and presence. There are multiple modes to choose from, which makes it really versatile depending on the sound. It’s a great way to bring life back into dull or flat elements.
I use Sculptor early in my master chain to establish a solid tonal baseline. It helps smooth things out and gives the mix a more balanced starting point before I get into detailed processing. It’s subtle but really effective, especially on buses and the master.
This compressor is a beast. It’s amazing for shaping dynamics and bringing energy forward in a mix. I especially like it on the master when I want things to feel more alive and controlled at the same time. Definitely a must-have for modern production.
This is the best glue compressor I’ve ever used. It pulls everything together in a really musical way without killing the energy. The attack and release controls are a little unusual at first, but once you get used to them it becomes incredibly powerful. I use this on my master chain around 85–95% mix and it just locks everything in place. Secret: use Drive for extra punch.
This is my favorite EQ ever. You can have unlimited bands, go super wide or extremely narrow, and shape literally anything. It supports dynamic EQ, sidechaining, mid-side, left-right processing, basically everything. If there’s something you want to do with an EQ, this can do it. I use it constantly, and I can’t recommend it enough.
This is my go-to when I want a more analog-style EQ workflow. It’s very musical and detailed, and it feels great to use if you prefer knobs over surgical visual control. It’s second only to Infinity EQ for me, but it has its own vibe that I really like.
I use this to bring back high-end clarity and sparkle. It’s great on vocals, synths, and anything that needs a bit more shimmer. It can really open up a sound without making it harsh.
This plugin is amazing on drums. It really brings out the body and punch of kicks and snares. The included modules and presets are incredibly good, and it makes building analog-style chains really easy.
This is one of the only ducking plugins I actually like. It’s super customizable and can go from really subtle movement to heavy pumping effects. It’s great for adding rhythm and space without overcomplicating things.
This is a really powerful reverb for vocals and drums. It’s super detailed and customizable, with tons of plate options to choose from. There’s even a trigger section for shaping how the reverb reacts dynamically. It also has built-in EQ and a ton of control over the reverb character.
This plugin hits hard. I use it on basses and kicks all the time. It adds weight and low-end presence in a really clean way, and the different modes give you flexibility depending on the track. Honestly, a must-have for getting a strong low end.
This saturator is incredible. It's just subtle enough not to make a mess, but it's beefy enough to add body and fullness to any instruement or mix. Highly recommend, especially for snares.
I use this to monitor loudness and make sure my tracks are hitting the level I want without clipping or losing dynamics. It’s essential for getting competitive volume while still keeping the mix clean.
This is my go-to reverb for general use. It’s really versatile and works great on an FX bus. Whether I need subtle room ambience or something bigger, it gets the job done.
I like this because it’s simple and direct. A lot of delay plugins get complicated, but this one gives me exactly what I need without extra clutter. Full control, no nonsense.
This gives a really full, rich chorus sound, similar to a guitar pedal. It can get subtle or really intense depending on how you use it. Great for adding width and movement. This plugin is also completely free.
I use this for movement and character. With automation, you can make instruments feel like they’re “speaking” to each other, which adds a really cool dynamic element to a track. This plugin is completely free.
I use this on almost everything except sub bass, drums, and FX. It adds warmth, saturation, and a vintage feel that brings a lot of character to my synths. It’s a huge part of my sound.
This plugin is massive in every sense. It feels like playing in a huge space, like a hall that just keeps going. I use it alongside RoomWorks on a separate FX bus for long, lingering atmospheres.
This is essential for getting competitive loudness. I use it to trim peaks and smooth things out across tracks, and also on my master to push RMS levels higher without clipping. Super important for final polish.
OTT is an essential plugin that I use to give a competitive punch and click to my bass and to lift my reverb buss. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to make Electronic music of any kind, as it is a very simple model of a Multiband Up/Down compressor
